A retired master TPR teacher and teacher trainer, she taught ESL and World languages for many years and is widely known as a dynamic speaker at conferences. She has been rated one of the top teacher trainers in the field of Language Acquisition, ESL and Foreign Language, training teachers in foreign language all across the United States and in 23 other countries. She has also served as a county ESL teacher trainer, and a district resource specialist. Berty was one of the first language acquisition specialists to use the term Comprehensible Input.

Kirstin Plante has co-authored this second edition.She has been one of the leading personalities of acquisition driven teaching in Europe, ever since she first attended a TPRS workshop in her home country, the Netherlands. A passionate teacher and teacher trainer, she has developed a great variety of courses and workshops and has personally trained hundreds of language teachers in Europe and the US. She also runs a small publishing company, dedicated to teaching materials and easy readers based on teaching and acquiring language through comprehensible input.
